La Pelicula Film Festival

Pitchfork describes Algiers as a mixing “the soul-powered activism of early ’70s Motown with the proto-punk fury of the MC5, the synth primitivism of Suicide, and the Biblically charged drama of the Bad Seeds.” The group brings their unique sound to Prague in support of their latest album.
The Vagina Monologues, 1st Premiere

Described as “a series of monologues meant to showcase the wide range of experiences than can stem from being a woman or simply having a vagina (as these two concepts are not always related),” the show tackles themes of sexual freedom, body positivity, rape culture, self-acceptance, and other right-now issues. Another performance takes place on February 28.
Screening of “Dcera”

This animated short written and directed by FAMU student Daria Kashcheeva was nominated for an Oscar for best animated short. Though it didn’t take home the statuette it’s still worth catching this tale of a daughter recalling a difficult childhood moment when she shared her experience with an injured bird with her Father.

Spectaculare Festival 2020

A performance of “A Winged Victory for the Sullen” at the Church of the Saviour opens this festival which attracts some fo the top names from the world of electronic, ambient, experimental jazz and contemporary music. An accompanying program features film screenings, scenic dances, and theatrical performances. The festival runs through April 18.
