Number of new COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic rises for third straight day

The number of new COVID-19 cases sped up for the third time in a row as there were 103 of them on Thursday

Prague, May 1 (CTK) – The number of new COVID-19 cases sped up for the third time in a row as there were 103 of them on Thursday, reaching the total of 7,682, according to the data the Czech Health Ministry published on its website at 8:30 today.

Compared with Wednesday, the number rose by almost one half on Thursday.

Similar to Wednesday, roughly 7,300 tests were conducted, but the daily increase in the cases of coronavirus accelerated from 75 to 103.

At present, there are 7,689 cases of COVID-19 cases.

Today, there have been seven new infections.

Since Thursday, the number of the deaths of coronavirus infected rose by one to 237 and the number of recoveries now stands at 3,314.

There were 344 patients hospitalised with COVID-19 and 67 of them are in a serious condition.

The largest daily increase in the number of the infected was detected on April 3, with 332 new cases.

The epidemic spread started falling on April 20, but it resumed on Tuesday.

On Thursday, there were 4,132 ill with COVID-19.

The disease is most widespread in Prague, which reports 1,724 infected, an infection rate of 127 per 100,000 population.

The second region with the most cases per population is the Karlovy Vary Region with infection rate of 122 per 100,000 population.

The most coronavirus-related deaths also happened in Prague, with healthcare workers reporting 83 victims.
