This morning, the Czech Republic’s Smart Quarantine team in cooperation with the Czech Health Ministry has released a helpful infographic that illustrates the activities where an individual is most and least likely of contracting COVID-19.

The Czech Smart Quarantine team is responsible for tracing back cases of infection to determine where people may have contracted COVID-19, as well as find others that they may have come into contact with. Using this data, the team has compiled the below graph that illustrates the degree of risk for transmission of COVID-19 on a scale of 1-10.

It should be noted, however, that the team has been unable to trace about 30% of the COVID-19 cases that occur in Prague, which has been cited as one of the reasons for the recent increase in the number of cases in the Czech capital.

According to the Smart Quarantine data, the most risky activities for contracting COVID-19 in the Czech Republic have been going to bars, music clubs, concerts, and large parties – not a surprise as close physical contact is a common occurrence at these activities. Sports camps also saw the highest level (9) assigned by the Smart Quarantine team.

Right behind those activities was something far more common: riding on public transport, which carries a risk level of 8 according to the Czech Smart Quarantine team. From tomorrow, wearing a face mask once again becomes mandatory on all public transport vehicles in the Czech Republic.

Going to city fairs and festivals, and exercising in enclosed gyms also carry risks levels of 8 according to the Czech officials.

Restaurants carried a range of risk levels: eating at a buffet-style restaurant was given an 8, at an indoor restaurant a 7, at an outdoor restaurant a 4, and ordering take-away just a 2.

Activities with the least risk of COVID-19 transmission according to the Czech team were walking a dog, watching TV at home, and working on the computer, which were all assigned a 1. Hiking and camping, playing tennis, and pumping fuel at a gas station were all given a risk level of 2.

Common activities like going to a theater or cinema, or hairdresser or barber, carry a risk level of 6 according to the Smart Quarantine data. Shopping at a mall was given a risk level of 5, while shopping in a small or medium-sized store was given a 3 level.
