It’s the Holiday Season All Year ‘Round at Prague’s Christmas Restaurant

Don’t worry: Prague’s new Christmas Restaurant, which officially opened earlier this summer, has you covered.

Yes, it’s the holiday season all year round at Christmas Restaurant, which serves up Czech holiday favorites every night in the heart of Žižkov.

Those Czech Christmas classics include (of course) a traditional Christmas carp with potato salad, along with other favorites including svíčková (beef tenderloin and dumplings in a vegetable sauce), or baked duck with sauerkraut.

Just be careful when booking Christmas dinner: each holiday meal is only served on select nights during the week.

The Christmas carp, delivered fresh from a local fishery, is available on Monday and Thursday, with svíčková (from a recipe dating back to 1826) served Tuesday and Friday and the “iconic” slow-cooked duck on Wednesdays and Saturday.

If you’re not in the holiday spirit, Christmas Restaurant also offers some other year-round Czech classics like fried cheese with tartar sauce or chicken steak topped with bacon, honey pork ribs, and ratatouille.

Christmas Restaurant also offers a selection of Moravian wines from the Košut Family Vineyards, along with fresh Pilsner Urquell on draft.

Homemade sweets, of course, include a variety classic Czech Christmas cookies, baked fresh throughout the year.

Located at U Rajské Zahrady 16 in Prague 2, Christmas Restaurant is open weekdays and Saturday from 8:00 – 22:00, and on Sunday from 8:00 – 17:00.
