Naše Toustárna (“bake my day”!) is taking the humble toastie out of the kitchenette and putting it on the gourmet stage with roast beef on pumpernickel and pulled pork with coleslaw. For dessert, classic Czech buchta.

It was only a matter of time: Prague now has a tour devoted exclusively to coffee. In operation since late last year, a new-and-improved English-friendly Prague Coffee Tour has just launched.

World Vegan market, offering all things raw, vegan, and gluten-free, has opened in Černá Labuť. The selection is more extensive than Loving Hut’s other retail outpost (reviewed here in 2013) and includes fresh produce.

Nearby, a slick new cocktail lounge has opened. The Rabbit Hole specializes in rum drinks and trippy interior design which surely would have been approved by Lewis Carroll himself.

NaGrilu, the new Kofola-branded casual dining spot which has steadily been getting good reviews since its opening last month is now doing brunch (and the massive bowls of chicken soup look cold-season-ready)!

This month is also about enjoying the waning moments of summer, preferably at a rooftop bar. Balcony Bar has opened in the Jungmannovo náměstí space formerly occupied by designer Natalie Steklova.

Find them at the Kulaťák Farmer’s Market or, now, in their own place. Sri Lankan Curry House has an affordable lunch buffet (utensils optional) and a specialty foods shop where you can buy ingredients for whipping up your own biryanis at home.

Farther east on the culinary map, but just across town in Žižkov, Mesy Thai restaurant is currying favor with the Prague 3 crowd.

For lovers of Scandinavian cuisine and style Reinsdyr should probably top your list of must-try restaurants this autumn. Hearty dishes like Swedish meatballs, salmon pudding, and reindeer prepared a variety of ways are ideal comfort food for fall.

Fresh-Mex take-out joint Habanero Mexican Grill is expanding. The expansion will be financed via an innovative crowdfunding platform that lets customers become investors. For serious salsa lovers.

And because autumn is all about cozying up in a cafe: the always lovely Cukr-káva-limonáda has opened a new location while ŽIŽKAVÁRNA not only has great coffee but creative sandwiches; open for less than a year (but newly discovered by me) Cathedral Café is for lazy Sundays and balmy autumn nights.
