The Colours of Ostrava International Music Festival continues to add marquee acts to its growing line up of musicians for its 2020 outing. Following this month’s announcement of first-confirmed headliners Twenty One Pilots, festival organizers have now announced that folk-rockers The Lumineers are joining the bill.
Known for their contagious melodies and powerful lyrics, the Grammy-nominated American group, led by singer and guitarist Wesley Schultz, drummer Jeremiah Fraites, and cellist Neyla Pekarek performed to a sell-out crowd in Prague’s Forum Karlin in November of this year. The group has opened for U2 and Tom Petty and recently released a short-film trilogy as a companion to their latest album, III.
Colours organizers have also released the names of additional acts scheduled to perform at this year’s festival including Norwegian singer Sigrid, mystical Nordic group Wardruna, Australian singer Tones and I, known for the big hit “Dance Monkey,” German marching techno brass band Meute, Russian gypsy punk-folk group The Hatters, and ska-punk-rock outfit Bazzookas from Amsterdam.
“The seven newly published names, including The Lumineers and Sigrid, illustrate the great variety of genres that Colours of Ostrava possesses,” says festival director Zlata Holušová. “What they have in common is that they will offer a great concert experiences to the visitors,” she adds.
The nineteenth edition of the Colours of Ostrava festival will take place from July 15-18, 2020 in the former industrial area of Dolní Vítkovice in Ostrava.
The program takes place across 24 outdoor and indoor stages with performances from more than 120 foreign and domestic bands, discussions within the Meltingpot International Forum, theaters, workshops, films, art installations, and other accompanying activities.
Four-day tickets are now available in the festival e-shop at www.colours.cz and via GoOut and Ticketportal. The current price of a four-day ticket of 2,690 CZK applies to a limited quantity of 9,000 tickets.
