Amazon Prime Video Debuts on the Czech Market

Netflix now has some local competition with Amazon Prime launching its VOD service in the Czech Republic

January saw the launch of Netflix into 130 countries worldwide; Yesterday TechNet reported that another streaming option will be available from Czech IP addresses.

Amazon is expanding its Prime Video into 200 additional countries including the Czech Republic.

For non-subscribers to the Prime package (not currently available in the Czech Republic) the first week of the video service is free; a promotional price of 75 CZK per month, half-off the standard fee of 150 CZK per month, is available for the first six months.

For comparison, Netflix costs upwards of 200 CZK monthly.

Amazon Prime Video is available via apps for iOS, Android, Amazon devices, select smart TVs, and online at PrimeVideo.com. Original content comes in English, vith a variety of subtitles and dubbed versions available on some markets, although not for the Czech Republic.

The initial offerings are somewhat limited, as was the case with Netflix when it launched in early 2016 and whose selection of original series and films has improved over the past year.
