Apple’s New Thanksgiving Ad Was Filmed On the Streets of Prague

Every year, Apple airs a new ad in the U.S. for Thanksgiving. Techcrunch is reporting that this year’s ode to the iPhone X was filmed in the Czech capital.

Called “Sway” the new spot features the track “Palace” by R&B artist Sam Smith from his 2017 album The Thrill Of It All on Apple Music.

The dancers (fun fact: they’re married in real life) perform amid a snowy lamplit setting along the streets of Prague, listening to the song via wireless Bluetooth-powered AirPods.

Czech blog Muj iPad has screen-grabbed the Czech street signs that are visible in the video.

Another industry blog Letem svetem applem says the video is a mash-up of scenes filmed in Prague 1 near Old Town Square, Prague 7 at Výstaviště fairgrounds in Prague’s Holešovice district, and on the Vyšehrad railway bridge.

The Horské dráha sign is recognizable as the city’s oldest and some say scariest retro roller coaster located at the Matějská pouť funfair which opens for the season in February.

It wouldn’t be the first time an Apple holiday commercial has been shot in the Czech Republic.

In 2016, the picturesque town of Žatec, about 80 kilometers east of Prague and locations in and around the Libochovice Chateau in the Ústí nad Labem region were used as film locations for a pair of separate ads.
