Sting to Headline This Year’s Prague Metronome Festival

The festival has landed the multi-Grammy winner for its second outing in June

The Prague Metronome Festival debuted last summer, bringing a dynamic line-up to the Czech capital that included local performers, international acts, and headliner Iggy Pop for what Prague Mayor Adriana Krnáčová called “a festival of European dimensions.”

This year’s headliner has just been announced: Sting will appear at Metronome Festival which takes place from June 23-24 once again at Výstaviště Prague.

“We are really happy that we managed to get Sting to Prague Metronome Festival in 2017 and that we can share this joy with all the fans. It will be Sting’s Czech festival premiere and we are excited that it will be just for Metronome,” says program director Barbara Šubrtová.

Advance tickets go on sale today for members of the official Sting fan club and ticket holders of last year’s Metronome festival; on Monday, December 12, organizers will open ticket sales to the general public, which will run until the end of January for a discounted price. Tickets start at 1,690 CZK.

Mayor Krnáčová said: “Prague deserves a big music festival and I am delighted that we have Metronome, which has the ambition to compete with the best European musical events, such as the Hungarian Sziget. We expect that the festival will appeal to both fans from the Czech Republic, but also to lure new tourists back.”

The former Police frontman and multiple-Grammy winner will reportedly perform on the first day of the festival. He is appearing in support of his twelfth studio album, 57th and 9th, released on November 11.
