A cautiously optimistic list of activities for the weekend ahead!

Theaters, galleries, museums, cinemas, and other venues re-opened throughout the Czech Republic on May 11 and today the Czech government announced that events of up to 300 people are allowed since May 25. While we are happy to be back on the culture beat we’re still a bit cautious and ask our readers to exercise common sense and caution when venturing out.

With warm weather in the forecast we suggest open-air events where fun meets social distancing. We’ve also included streaming and take-out options for those who still want to enjoy the best of Prague and the Czech Republic’s food and culture scene from home.

Keep in mind that if you are attending events this weekend, face masks are still mandatory in the Czech Republic until May 25 according to the Ministry of Health.

Dyzajn Market Holešovice/ photo via Facebook

Dyzajn Market Spring (May 16-17) normally takes place on the first spring weekend at the Piazzetta of the National Theater. Due to government measures related to the coronavirus the event has been moved to the outdoor area in front of the Industrial Palace at the Prague Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice. Because of travel restrictions, the vendors will be almost exclusively Czech designers but it’s a great opportunity to support local business — many of the designers recently sewed masks for the public for free — by shopping for fashion, stationery, toys, books, accessories, natural cosmetics, bags and backpacks. Open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
