While some may consider Prague’s Palmovka/Libeň district a bit rough around the edges, others see the neighborhood’s old-school Czech charm as a selling point.

Today its decaying functionalist buildings mingle with urban renewal—the newly opened VisitInn Cafe, high-design chair shop Sedíme stylově, and the Palmovka Open Park project, encompassing the Horák and Hlava auto repair factory, a national monument, all aim to revitalize the area.

Waterfront views, Thomayer Park, and the Libeň Bridge connecting the area to Troja, make this former playground of writer Bohumil Hrabal an up-and-coming hub for professionals and artists that rivals neighboring Karlín in trendiness.
