The second annual Prague Metronome Festival will take place on 23-24 June 2017 at Prague’s Výstaviště Exhibition Grounds.
The line up, announced earlier this year, will be headlined by Sting and British band Kasabian, who will appear in support of their highly anticipated new album.
On Friday, festival reps was announced that Ethiopian singer Ester Rada, often called the “Ethiopian Aretha Franklin,” will open for Sting.
Other international names include Dutch psychedelic rockers Birth of Joy and indie electronic band Garden City Movement from Tel Aviv.
A number of top local acts are slated to perform, including Czech band Monkey Business, who will pay tribute to the late British singer George Michael who died in December of last year.
“We’re very much looking forward to it, and people won’t have the opportunity to see the same performance anywhere else,” says Monkey Business singer Matěj Ruppert, whose band cites the British singer as an influence.
The group says they will play his greatest hits.
Michael performed in Prague in 2011 at the State Opera House as part of his Symphonica world tour.
