This morning, meterologists reported temps of -20°C in Šumava with the mercury dipping below freezing in numerous places throughout the country. The outlook for the coming weekend and into next week is not much better, unless overcast is your kind of weather. What’s a spring seeker in Prague to do?
Warm up while looking cool
The Náplavka marketplace on Saturday will see sellers of herbs and plants, roses, succulents, and balcony tomatoes setting up shop along everyone’s favorite weekend hangout.
Sunday is the Street Food Festival at Cross Club promising a delicious array of food vendors and a funky vibe!
Shop for a spring wardrobe
It wouldn’t be a weekend in Prague without a flea market or two.
MINT Market takes places every Saturday at Holešovice Hala 13; for a full run-down of what the event has to offer, see our article here.
Vintage & Co Prague’s Fashion Flea Market Spring Edition is at ice-cream-sandwich joint Parlor this Sunday; Žižkovský blešák ve Stormu/Flea Market at the Storm club is another Sunday option with 40+ retailers participating this time.
Catch some spring sounds
Nothing says spring in the Czech lands like a rock fest. Luckily, the spring edition of Mighty Sounds is being held inside at Rock Cafe today and tomorrow; headliners are rockabilly faves The Peacocks.
The legendary Apríles festival takes place tomorrow through Sunday at Nákladové nádraží Žižkov. Organizers are promising a new space, new concept, and the most extensive program in the history of the festival.
Seek out violets and butterflies
A new exhibition at the Prague Botanical Garden lets visitors witness the transformation of butterflies, even touching the winged creatures for the ultimate sensory experience.
The event complements the exhibition of tropical butterflies in the greenhouse Fata Morgana. There will also be an exchange/market of African Violets this weekend…stock up, green thumbs!
Enjoy some good old-fashioned spring fun
On Saturday, the first annual Libeň carnival will present a vintage fun fair complete with hand-cranked rides, craft demonstrations, games, and food stalls.
The following day, neighboring beer garden, community garden, and park Přístav 18600 opens for the spring season. Expect djs, the launch of a special Křižík 11° beer, and more.
