Steam engine trains will return to Czech railways once again starting Saturday, offering Czech residents a unique opportunity to ride historic trains to a small town outside of Prague.
The special trains run from Lužná u Rakovníka and Kolešovice; this year, CityRail will provide the trains for the first time instead of Czech Railways.
The steam trains start and end in Kněževes; they run on the Lužná u Rakovníka – Krupá – Kněževes – Kolešovice train route. The trains pass the České dráhy Museum with historic trains and locomotives, but the steam trains are no longer operated by Czech Railways.
If you wish to take a ride on the historic locomotives, you can buy a one-way ticket for 200 CZK and a return trip for 300 CKZ. If you’d like to purchase a family ticket, you can buy one for 750 CZK. Children, seniors, and disabled persons pay half fare.
The trains take a one hour break in Kněževes to visit the local museum and surrounding town.
