Prague, Oct 14 (CTK) – The Comic-Con international festival of popular culture, including comic and fantasy, will be held in Prague for the first time, in the O2 Universum centre from February 7 to 9, 2020, Iva Pavlouskova told CTK, on behalf of the organisers, today.
U.S. actor Ron Perlman, 69, starring Hellboy in the eponymous film adaptation of the comic strip from 2004, confirmed to attend the event, Pavlouskova said.
The festival focuses on films, series, games, comic strips and books in the science-fiction, fantasy and horror genres.
The programme of the Comic-Con Prague 2020 will offer meetings with film stars and other artists, screenings, debates, workshops, exhibitions, competitions and concerts. Visitors can also play video games and enjoy virtual reality.
“What used to be marginal entertainment for geeks is now the mainstream. We all know and love Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, the Lord of the Ring and Game of Thrones. I believe that visitors to the Comic-Con Prague will be crazy about it,” said Pavel Rencin, marketing director of the co-organising Active Radio.
Perlman as well as American actor Casper Van Dien, known from Starship Troopers, and Irish Ian McElhinney, playing in Game of Thrones, will attend the Comic-Con Prague, along with other actors and actresses and comic authors, festival programme director Vaclav Pravda said.
Comic-Con has been popular all over the world. The first festival took place in the United States in 1970 and since then it has turned into an important world event. The film Star Trek Beyond had a world premiere at the Comic-Con in San Diego, California, three years ago.
