The Momo Project is a collective of local Praguers with a simple motto: cultivate kindness. Their initiatives are meant to inspire happiness in a world that is often lacking in it. Their projects range from grand in scale — helping run the INI Galerie pop-up shelter for women and children — to lighthearted: bake-offs, clothing swaps, or organizing Prague’s first-ever “most cuddly dog” competition.
Now they have set their sites on helping out foreigners in the Czech Republic with an area of great difficulty: the Czech language. For non-native speakers of the local language, the group has released a series of bilingual holiday greetings on its Facebook page that you can copy out onto your own Christmas cards or last-minute gift packages.
“I love to write little notes to friends or strangers,” says Momo Project founder Mia who sees the templates as the perfect act of holiday kindness. “And my friend Milena is currently starting her Czech personal assistant service so it was the perfect moment to team up and provide some value for people living in the Czech Republic.”
The simple greetings are perfect for adding to gifts for Czech neighbors, teachers, family, or colleagues.
If you haven’t gotten your Christmas cards out yet, don’t worry. Unlike a traditional Christmas card, a “PF” may be sent during Christmas time, after the holidays just before New Year’s Eve, or a few days after the start of the New Year. You can read more about the etiquette for sending holiday greetings in the Czech Republic in our 2017 article here.
Upcoming Momo Project events include the 2020 edition of the Prague’s most cuddly dog event as well as a citywide treasure hunt.
