Donald Trump Invites Miloš Zeman to the White House

The US president-elect spoke to the Czech president this morning; plans are in motion for Zeman to visit Washington in April

Czech president Miloš Zeman showed some early support for Donald Trump in advance of the US elections last month, and immediately sent the president-elect a congratulatory letter once the results were in.

Earlier today, Zeman received a phone call from The Donald.

Trump “appreciated the fact that [Zeman] was the only European president who publicly supported him before the November elections in the US,” said Prague Castle spokesperson Jiří Ovčáček, as reported by iDnes.cz.

“The two statesmen discussed their similar positions in the fight against Islamic terrorism. They also talked about other areas of political and economic cooperation that unite our two countries.

Trump also invited the Czech president to come to the White House, echoing an invitation Zeman had extended to Trump in his earlier letter.

Tentative plans are for Zeman to visit the country next April, and receive an award from a “significant Jewish organization” that also honored Trump last year, according to iDnes.

That organization is most likely the Jewish National Fund, who awarded their Tree of Life Award to Trump last December.

Zeman had previously spoken to Ivana Trump, Donald’s first wife, who voiced her desire to become the US Ambassador to the Czech Republic last month.
