Ester Ledecká has become the first athlete in Winter Olympic history to take home gold medals in both skiing and snowboarding after winning the Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom at Pyeongchang Saturday.
She is the first woman to win two gold medals in two different sports at one games, summer or winter.
The 22-year-old stunned the world with an unexpected win in the Alpine skiing super-G last week then went on to defeat Germany’s Selina Joerg in the Snowboard Giant Slalom final by 0.46 seconds, becoming only the fifth person to win gold in two events.
“I’m still a little confused,” laughed the Prague-native at the finish of the snowboard finals.
