A new project from the culinary-guide author, food festival founder, and self-proclaimed gastronaut Pavel Maurer is focused on offering unique dining experiences around the Czech Republic–including a Prague-to-Dresden train excursion serving breakfast on the way there and dinner on the way back.
The tasty train trip is just one among a line up of deals that are part of the newly launched “Maurer’s table” project. Tickets for Dresden go on sale from July 31 for Saturdays in August (August 10, August 17, and August 31). The price is 1,200 CZK per person, with a minimum purchase of 2 persons; maximum of. 4.
The project is similar to a gourmet Groupon (or its local equivalent Slevomat), giving foodies a chance to make year-round reservations at the city’s top tables at a discount. Bookings include an aperitif, amuse-bouche, plus a minimum of 4 courses and 2 glasses of wine or beer.
Many of the selected restaurants are included in the annual Maurer’s Grand Restaurant Festival, which takes place from January to February. Participating restaurants include Miyabi sushi, El Emir, and a number of high-end dining destinations: Aromi, Bellevue, Alcron.
Overnight gourmet stays at Chateau Mcely and Angusfarm Soběsuky are also among the offerings. Tastings begin at 800 CZK and new experiences, according to the Maurer team, will be released each month.
The Dresden-trip menu includes a meal of pork cheeks with black beer, creamy mashed potatoes and roasted red onions with honey and other recipes developed by the junior national chef’s team for ČD Restaurant with JLV Service. The scenic ride passes through the Elbe Valley and Czech-Saxon Switzerland.
