Spindleruv Mlyn, East Bohemia, Oct 3 (CTK) – The first snow of the 2019/2020 season has fallen in the Czech Republic.

A temperature of minus two degrees Celsius was measured on Snezka (1,603 m) in Krkonose, the highest mountain in the country. The operation of the cableway to Snezka was interrupted due to strong wind.

Last year, the first snow of the 2018/2019 winter season appeared in Krkonose on September 24.

Snow was falling on Snezka and on Medvedin mountain above Spindleruv Mlyn ski resort in Krkonose this morning.

Meteorologists forecast snowfalls in areas more than 1,200 meters above see level today.

In Krkonose, there is also a snow field where snow stays the longest in the country, called “Map of the Republic” because of its shape. This year, it melted in the other half of June.
