Futuristic David Černý restaurant to feature Europe’s first robotic bartender

The sculptor's next big project is Cyberdog a two-floor restaurant with a robotic bartender

Two years ago, Czech artist-provocateur David Černý unveiled a towering robot for the opening of Czech Photo Centre, a museum in Nové Butovice showcasing the work of leading Czech and international photographers.

That sci-fi theme will now carry over into Černý’s latest endeavor, a two-floor restaurant called Cyberdog, serviced by Europe’s first robotic bartender, “Budy.”

According to Trigema, the development company behind the construction of the center, the restaurant — which also will feature an automated payment system — is due to open in late November or early December.

Located near the headquarters of the Czech Photo Center and named for its shape (meant to recall the head and body of a dog) the restaurant will also project information from the world of cybernetics via a unique glass that will allow passerby in front of the restaurant to see the projected images.

The so-called “galactic” menu features sweet potato fries and wraps.

“Every detail of Cyberdog’s interior has been carefully designed,” says Trigema on its website. “We have worked together with leading brands [including] Philippe Starck [who] designed the…chairs for Kartell.

They add: “It took more than one year to come up with the original vision and then realize the Cyberdog Centre. Together with David Černý, three other members of the team of architects at the Black n’ Arch studio (part of the Trigema Group) worked on this project.”

The developers say they were inspired by robots preparing drinks in Las Vegas. The venue can seat up to 41 people.
