This unique vantage point is available on four railway lines: the Pendolino train from Františkovy Lázně to Plzeň, a passenger train through the Vltava valley from Praha Masarykovo nádraží to Kralupy nad Vltavou, a mountain train called Slezský Semmering from Zábřeh na Moravě to Jeseník, and a City Elephant from Praha Masarykovo nádraží to Úvaly on the eastern border of Prague.
The longest virtual journey takes an hour and 27 minutes. More lines and types of trains, including steamers and other historical trains, will eventually be added. The portal was created by the Czech Railways magazine.
“We know that a number of railway fans and people who travel by train, and would like to experience the driver’s view. Therefore, we have decided to gradually map out the most interesting routes,” the magazine’s editor Vaclav Rubes told the media.
Each route features five different cameras placed in the train. In addition, it is possible to track the route from the perspective of the driver and from the chassis. The Pendolino trains on the Plzen route reach up to 140 kilometers per hour.
